The good kind of pain...

This week is going to be beautifully busy for me. I have something planned every evening, good or bad. Last night we tied our third hockey game of the semester. Should have won but we made the fatal mistake of putting me on defense. Tonight is a "bonus" lecture followed by an Oil Sands Tec-Talk tomorrow. Then it gets good. The opening seeding tournament for Vance Refrigeration gets underway. I guess if you haven't seen much of "The Office" then our mens volleyball team name won't make much sense but believe me, it's a good one. Thursday we start our mixed volleyball league. Our team name, the Effooffandoos. Friday and Saturday haven't been planned just yet but with my 23rd birthday on Tuesday, I think I have to get something together.

So enough about me, how are things with you? Sometimes when school gets going full tilt like this its hard to remember that you know other people. Your brain is so full that you forget about calling friends, visiting family...and on rare occasions that you're going to Thailand in just over two months. (Oh right, that's just me) Does life ever get less complicated? I think that the easiest time of my life is just coming up. The "Post-School Pre-Wife" window. I'll have money, time, and basically no commitments. Sounds great. Just have to find a good job first so that I have the money and time. Still sending out resumes and asking for interviews at the moment. Some leads are looking good...others are definitely not going to happen. I'm sure I'll end up with something good in Calgary.

There's two more things I want to post soon. First is some pictures from Whitefish and second is a plan that I'm developing to "improve/organize" my life. It's a reward/punishment program that looks like it might work best with a friend or roommate involved, I'll explain more later. Part of that plan includes swimming so I'd better get to the pool. Later.

Snow, snow, and more snow

Any of you read Robert Munch books?...the one about the girl who wished for snow, snow, and more snow on her birthday? Well she lives in Whitefish and her birthday was yesterday. The start of the day on Big Mountain was okay. The odd bit of powder but mostly old crusty stuff. Not too much ice though. Anyway, just before lunch the snow started to fall and it fell fast. We'd go right back to the same runs and they would already be filled in. The tree runs collected most of the snow. Often you would carve deep and choke on all the powder that was thrown up in your face. Couple of good spills: Matt before lunch almost took out a whole family and Jacob and I were stellar on our last run down the hill. We have one more whole day of this and they got another 3" overnight. YES! Have to go pack up the room and get moved out. See you all back in Canada.

Hunting the Big Whitefish

Yeah, it's been a while but at least I'm back. We're in Whitefish, Montana right now about to go up for our first day on Big Mountain. Skiied Fernie yesterday with Jacob, Matt, and Mike Richmond. Dan was supposed to be along too but unfortunately we lost him to the flue at the end of last week. I guess we lost Mike too today to the soreness that comes with being a beginner. He gave it 100 % but it caught up with him today. Yesterday he took a couple of good wipeouts on the hill, once a small 6-year-old girl came up to ask him if he was okay.

So the remaining three are going to see what the American hill has to offer. I guess we'd better get up there. THe continental breakfast was good, enough to make it until lunch anyway. Wish us luck.
