10 days to my first sun burn...

That's assuming we get any sun on the 30th...I guess we'll be spending most of that day in a plane...but it's close enough. I'm getting very excited about Costa Rica. I can tell because I'm entering stage one of pre-vacation routine: happy and motivated.

Right now I'm happy every day. I've got a great two week vacation to look forward to. I'm starting to pack, make last minute plans, get a list of things I need to buy before I go and when I'm there. BUT...it's still far enough away that I'm still motivated at work. I finished off the LRP (Long Range Plan) for my area this morning after many iterations. I still have a few other things to do today plus a couple of projects that I'm going to start (and maybe finish next week). So I'm really gettin' er all done. The next phase will be indifferent and not-motivated. Thats when I'm so exhausted from being excited that I don't seem happy, I say things like "yeah...the trip should be pretty good...we'll see", and have trouble geting 15 minutes of work done in a day.

Went out for Lobster and Steak with Halliburton last night at Ranchman's. Pretty decent meal, the magician kind of sucked, so much free booze that I was happy I drove my car so I wouldn't be tempted to drink. There's definitely a few people around the office today that don't look so good.

In self-preparation mode...

I just realized something today. Actually, I've noticed it before but now it's being filed in the "problems that Mike now knows he has but can't change" file in my brain. I don't prepare myself as well as others. Example, I'll be the guy to make sure that EVERYONE has their passport when going to Montana but I'll forget mine. Or going to Nanton without a swim suit.

Why I bring this up? I've been making check lists for my friends going down to Costa Rica with me but I haven't even thought about making sure I'm prepared too. So this weekend I might start looking at what I need to go, what I already have, and what I need to get.

Also thought I should post some pictures from Easter weekend in Nanton. I spent some time getting aquainted with my new video camera. By far the most popular thing is filming stuff in slow motion. It even motivated Peter and Richard to cannonball into a freezing cold pool just to see what it looks like. From the picture you can just tell that my brother must be super intelligent.

Sorry Pete. The video camera also captured a Tenove first...Ditchboarding. What you do is dress up in a funny-looking snow suit (sorry Jim), attach a wakeboard rope to the hitch of your truck, strap on a snowboard in a ditch filled with snow, and hope your younger brother can stay on the road. Jeff made a few successful trips up and down the ditch, Terry did stay on the road for the most part, Pete brought the girls, and I was there to record it all. Highlights, Jeff building a jump and Terry almost running him over with the truck.

Yup, fun and safe...that's how we roll. Definite activity for next year. Tenove Bro 1 out.

I Love/Hate Timmy's...

Yes, I am addicted to Canadian Crack. There's few things that brighten up my smile on a tired morning like the thought of going for a large, regular (one sugar, one cream) Tim Horton's coffee. Actually drinking the coffee is good too but you know it's an addiction when just the thought of it perks you up first.

There's also the tasty breakfast sandwiches (get sausage, bacon sucks) that have saved me from starvation many mornings. Apparently they are actually less healthy for you than an Egg McMuffin...weird.

Anyway, I was keeping my dependence in check until the newest season of "Roll Up The Rim To Win" started. That and finding a nice service company representative in my building to finance our addiction. This is where the Love/Hate thing comes in. I am convince that I am going to win a car everytime I buy a coffee. I get so excited as I quickly drink it down, buring my mouth in the process. Dump the lid...clean of the rim...thumbs ready...roll AND... S!$%. Win a chance to play again. Tim Horton you son-of-a-B!%@&.

I think in that way it's even more like a real drug addiction. You experience similar highs and lows on an emotional rollercoaster. The difference is instead of your high lasting for a while after your "hit" it is immediately squashed the moment you finish your drink.

Anyway, I'm awake but depressed at the moment after coming off my second defeat of the day (third if you include getting whipped 10-3 in hockey at noon). First game of our two game total-point final...things are not looking good for next week. Have a great week everyone.

Happy Easter!

Just wanted to wish everyone a great Easter after such a great week. Nevin and I are 99% moved into our new place and life is returning to that thing called "normal". Have the coffee maker automatically turning on at 6:00 am, drive to work is pretty quick, I've been kicking some ass with my incident tracking spreadsheet this week (finished it this morning and will present it to my boss after the morning meeting), AND it's a long weekend.

Next week my goal is to get the exercising portion of my life back into gear. This week I've been quite delinquent. Played hockey on Monday...that's it. I've been taking healthy lunches to work but that backfires when you get tacken out for lunch everyday and end up eating your bagged lunch at 11:00 as a snack. Today I had a huge breakfast and then buckled at work when they brought up free donuts. Yes...next week will be different.

Other HUGE news. I have my new camera. The Sony DCR-SR300 that I'd posted a month ago. Already in love. Charged it up last night and had Nevin assist me in testing out the slow motion capture. So much fun. We ran out of things to throw or shake infront of the camera in our apartment so I'll find some better stuff outside this weekend.

25 days to Costa Rica! Count 'em!
