I love short weeks...

The only thing better than having a long vacation coming up is only having 3 days of work just before it. Today I'm back in the office but I had one hell of a weekend!

Saturday and Sunday Jeff and I took an introductory Avalance Training Course. Very interesting and lots of fun. My mom was hoping that we'd learn enough to never want to go near avalanches but I'm afraid it had the other effect. Well...we're still not going to go near avalanches but maybe the totally safe and secure slope beside it. We did learn how dangerous back-country snowboarding is but we also learned that it is possible to do it safely if you are smart. You can't just go whenever you want. You have to continually monitor the conditions before you go (internet), when you arrive (parking lot), and make smart choices on the mountain. You can have one rainy weekend or cold week that could ruin the snow for a month or more. But don't worry mom, we're not going to make it a regular thing. Might try it once this winter with some experienced friends.

Sunday night Noel made it down to Calgary. We left early Monday morning for Sunshine (after saying farwell to my poor roommates who were leaivng for work). I thought it was a bit cold in the morning (wind was making it chilly on the lifts) but it got a lot better in the afternoon once we started riding the Wawa Chair. We both managed to have a lot of fun without any major injuries. Met up with Luke and Ang for a couple runs on the hill and then again for Noel's birthday dinner in Canmore. Tuesday was a recovery day. Sure needed it.

So, today I'm back at work and going at it hard. I'm hoping to have a full Christmas vacation which means I have to have quite a bit done before I leave on Friday. Makes me really look forward to the holidays.

Merry Christmas Everyone! Good luck with your final Christmas shopping.

Checking it twice...

Thought I'd better "update" the Christmas list.

- snowboard goggles
- snowboard mitts
- DVD's are still good ;)
- karate lessons
- guitar lessons (instructional DVD?)
- iPod stereo for work
- RushHour-type game (yeah...definitely and engineer's toy)

This list is basically what I would buy today if I had no other use for my money (such as buying presents for other ;), or snowboards ). I'm pretty settled in Calgary and lead a boring life day-to-day so there's not many needs. I'm afraid I can't give much more help.

Back to the buying a snowboard comment, I just made a deal to buy a 2007 Burton Custom 162 an hour ago. I'll pick it up on Monday. Pretty psyched! Sorry this entry seems like such a rushed one. I don't have a lot of time to post today but felt bad for neglecting my fans.
