Monday = Recovery

Okay...I before you just assume that I mean recovering from two major hangovers, please know that is only half right. Friday and Saturday nights were a couple of gong shows but my decrease in health was compounded by a nazty cold/flue that has set in to my network of people. I really need to start posting pictures again though. Why? Because last time I looked in a dictionary, my name was Ron Burgundy!

Yes, we 'became' the Channel 4 News team for the Red's Halloween party on Saturday, and we nailed it! Alexis went as a nurse instead of Veronica but she did an amazing job preparing the rest of us for our debut that night. Individually we are all instantly recognizable, but together we were dynamite! People just couldn't get over it. "Everybody, come see how good I look!" We made it up on stage for the costume competition but unfortunately missed the final round. I think we had the people with us, they just used up their voices in the earlier rounds. I know my friends in the crowd were doing their part. And yes, I kissed the guns, we sang "Afternoon Delight", and even did the gay "let's go suit shopping" jump. The only thing we really had left was for me to come on stage with a massive erection and for Nevin to come out eating a jar of mayonaise. We had a lot of sympathy from others after the competition, saying we should have won...I agree with them.

I'll post pictures shortly. Right now I have to go home. I've been at school on the computer designing my soil lifting system for the past 4 hours...can't take anymore. Oh, and my interview with Imperial went well today. Flying down to Calgary on Thursday morning for another one with ConocoPhillips. Find out about a possible Chevron position on Friday...exciting week for Mike's future! Later.

New Update...

Okay, so I didn't exactly get right back into the blogging thing. Give me some credit, it is in the middle of my midterm attack. Had my "rocks" lab exam today. Fun one actually, and seemed pretty easy. Let's hope I know "schist". Ah...that was a bad joke. Sure I'm an engineering nerd, but a geology nerd is just a whole new level of nerd. I feel I have the right to make fun of geologists. Ben... I finally appreciate what you meant about how rocks tast...it's a good technique.

Anyway, what else. Parents were up this past weekend along with Lorin from Calgary. Great weekend in fact. The Purple Penguin Pub crawl was a blast, finally had an excuse to wear my purple pimp outfit again. Watched the new movie, Serenity, on Saturday. I highly recommend it, great flick. Based on a TV show from a couple years ago too, I want to see a couple episodes. Brendan already has them all on his computer.

For now I just have to make it to the weekend. Couple of assignments, some design work, and then it's Friday and I can relax. Going to the Eskimos game that night then on Saturday, HALLOWEEN PARTY AT RED'S! Had so much fun last year.

Luke and Chris last year as Ace and Gary...the Ambiguously Gay Duo

This year we're going as the Channel 4 News team from Anchorman. In the group is myself (Ron Burgundy), Nevin (Brick Tamland), Luke (Champ Kind), Chris (Brian Fantana), and Alexis (Veronica Corningstone). Should be some fun. Our costumes are going to look pretty awesome too. Good motivation to start posting pictures on here again too. Anyway, bed time for me. 'Night all.

Off of maternity leave...

Okay, so maybe that's not the reason I've been blog-absent for so long. It's more a combination midterms, assignments, and a tempermental internet connection at home. I'm writing from school now. I also need to get my pictures back on track. I'm a fan of the free hosting sites but I've filled up the only good one I could find. The others wreck my pictures. Do you think Photobucket would actually notice if I had two accounts? I'm not worried about what they'd do to me, the only thing the really can do is shut down my account with them...but that would suck. All those pictures posted online...all those witty captions.

Anyway, I'll probably just risk it. In other news I was in Montana last weekend for Thanksgiving. Excellent weather down there, got a lot of work done, and had an amazing Sunday dinner. That place went through a lot of changes this year. My family has been working hard to bring that place a long but I'd also like to quickly thank my friends for their contribution. I think that's the quickest a volleyball court has every been put together (minus the month in between we weren't there).

School is going good now. I have a short pause between exams right now but next week it gets busy again. Our design group has some good ideas for lifting soil off the ground. The Goldden Bears won their home opener on Friday against UBC! Ha, take that Chris. I don't know how the Saturday game went but I assume the same. Carved up a pumpkin this weekend too. Mostly normal except for the three eyes. It's the new age of genetics, folks.

I'm also playing guitar again as of this weekend. I only took a break for a week or so but it seemed like a long time. Now I just leave it out in the front room against the wall...I play it much more that way. I've even started taking requests for songs to learn. My abilities are pretty limited still but I can scrap together enough that you can usually recognize it. Nevin has also become my writing partner for making new songs. He never knows what chord I actually need but he can sure tell me when it's wrong. Now if he can just start coming up with some words. Class time, later.
