The human pin cushion...

So you may have noticed I haven't posted any pictures in a little while. I've finally used up my limite on Photobucket. They think I should upgrade for a bigger account...that costs money! Yeah...right. You're not supposed to have two accounts but I might have to anyway. Anyone know of another hosting account that works good? Brendan?

So, I say I'm a human pin cushion because I recently received a few stitches. Nevin and Rocky talked me into coming out for their hockey game on Sunday night. Good thing I did, we only had 8 skaters, 7 for the second period. It was a good game, we won 3-2. Nevin had two goals and I had two assists. Rocky's contribution was clearing the puck right into my chin. Bled a bit on the jersey and the bench but the timekeeper had a nice, colourful bandaid. Had to wait at the university hospital until 1:00 AM to get 3 stitches but I guess it'll be worth it.

Going to read some text books. Later people.

Mike the Wedding Crasher...

Yeah, I gave it a try last night. Brendan's sister, Kristen, got married yesterday and I was invited to the reception in the Maple Leaf room of Lister Hall. Nice and close for me to walk. The place looked amazing and...it had a loonie bar in the back. Dan and Melanie were already there, along with Heather. Brendan was out on the dance floor taking pictures of the bride and groom's dance. Brendan was actually picture happy for most of the night but Heather managed to get him out on the dance floor quite often. Unfortunately for her, Brendan also like to dance. I've never seen "the sprinkler" done so much in one evening. He was a hit during "When I Touch Myself".

I promised him I wouldn't go crazy trying to dance with all the girls in the place, just the ones he told me I had to. Besides, near the end the loonie bar had me side-lined. I still dance a lot, but I definitely needed breaks so the room would stop spinning.

It was a great night and I can't wait for the next wedding dance. They're a lot better than the regular dancing we have around here. Friday night we were out at Cook County again after Jen's fondu party (which was also awesome by the way). Nevin and Rocky and Luke had an easy time getting out on the floor but I took my time. Finally a girl walked up, told me I was cute, and of course I asked her to go dance. I quickly found out that I would have to hold this girl up to keep her from falling over. I asked for her name and got the reply "it's hugghh...hugghh" (that's my impression of dry heaving). So she didn't actually puke but I held her up right at arm's length for the rest of the song. She was giving me "the eyes", totally wanted to make out, but....no, I'll just dance and get the hell out of there. It was like the scene from the movie, The 40 Year Old Virgin. Actually, I think the girl looked very much like the actress in the movie. After that I dance with a few familiar faces and called it a night.

We also had our Ultimate seeding tournament on Saturday. It was beautiful day, nice and warm. We won two and lost two which puts us in the top pool. We're going to get beat bad there but at least we won't face any of those teams in the playoffs. Homework time. I haven't really been able to think clearly all day so I need to get back at it.

Dropping classes like it's hot...

Yeah, I'm back in school now. The summer of fun is over and I'm in a cold, autumn Edmonton and life is very hectic. Reasons? There's a few:

1) My new condo. Nevin and I decided to stay roomies (and learned in our B Law class that we could be considered Common Law partners by December...but probably won't) and got a really nice two bedroom place just off the southeast corner of campus. It's got a nice stone courtyard, balcony, big rooms, and we're the first tenants so everything is brand new. It took me until yesterday to actually get all unpacked and moved in. It's not all complete yet, we still have a few boxes to get rid of, Kolla's bed, need a DVD player and possibly a landline phone. But at least I can start to breathe easier.

2) MY FREAKIN' INTERNET. Wireless sucks, if you can avoid it, DO! Everytime we go to set up this system we go through days of anxiety, hours of help line phone calls, and still end up running a 40' cable between rooms (or through vents). This time I'm not giving in though. I actually connected to our network last night by playing around with it. I don't know what I did, and the connection is incredibly slow...but it works...for now. If we can't improve it I might need some new parts.

3) My timetable is still not complete and I've been in school for almost a week. Last Thursday I dropped 3 classes to try to pick up 3 more. I kept thermo fluids (required), drilling, and business law but dropped biomedical, ancient greek technology, and marketing. Biomedical was interesting but I was in way over my head. I haven't done ANY of the stuff since high school and it was quickly apparent that everyone else in the room (other than a completely lost Dan) was hard core and knew what they were doing. Yeah, dropped that one. Instead I'm now in earth and atmospheric sciences: origin of the earth (basically a geology class and relevant to drilling), world war II, and if I can track down this one professer, a new petroleum course: Natural Gas. (My mom is going to make some stupid joke about how I'm already an expert in Natural Gas and don't need to take a course when the truth is my bowels have been quite clean for some time now...unless I eat food or drink beverages...or get in any car for a long trip)

So hopefully soon I will be able to sit at home and only worry about my homework...just like at Grandma's.

Sports update: Friday the Eski's lost the Labour Day rematch to the Calgary Stampeders. Saturday the Golden Bears football team stomped the Dino's at Foote Field. Sunday the Golden Bears hockey team beat the Oilers Rookies in overtime for their 5th straight win!
