I guess it's about time I told you about my weekend. I meant to yesterday but I was actually busy, I DO work around here...yes Amber, I do. We were thinking about not going this weekend because the forecast looked bad but it was nice on Friday afternoon so we left anyway. That night we had a barbecue in Samad's backyard and then went downtown for some fun. Samad thought it would be funny to try and lose me, even get me to smash into a divider by changing lanes at the last second...I showed him.

Saturday we ate at my favorite Montreal breakfast place, Tutti Frutti, and took a stroll down St. Catherine's street. Eric and I watched some traditional French folk dancing in a park. Never been much into tap dancing but these guys were really good, and the girls were hot. In the afternoon Samad, Nina, Eric, and I got in the car and started for Quebec City. We set up our tent and stuff at the campground first and then went downtown. We ate at a really cool restaurant called Voodoo on a patio that overlooked the street. You could sit there and watch expensive cars, dressed up girls, and hundreds of motorbikes go by. There was some motorbike convention in Quebec City, the number of cars and bikes we saw were about equal...in the whole city. There were parking lots just packed with them. Anyway, later we walked to Vieux Quebec, the old city, to the Chateau Frontenac. Very cool place, apparently the most photographed building in the world. I don't know about that, they probably just keep count and no one else in the world does so no one can dispute it. We also went along the wooden walkway up on the cliff that looks down into the St. Lawrence and listened to some very good guitar playing. Before the liquor stores closed we drove back to the campground, eventually started a fire with some very wet wood (it would steam first), and started to drink and talk. I finished off a roll of film with some creative pictures (you'll see them on the site soon).

Sunday we were up early and drove first to see the Pont du Quebec. This is the huge iron bridge that collapsed a long time ago. It's been rebuilt, and the iron rings we wear are related to this bridge. A reminder to always check our calculations to make sure they're right. Boy could I use one of those here. For lunch we went to an all you can eat buffet at Thomas Tahn. Eric amazed us all with how much food he could pack away, Jeff you would have some extreme competition. After that we drove outside the city to this huge waterfall (again, see the pictures). There was a suspension bridge that let you walk right along the edge of the falls. Down below you could take a part of the walkway to stand right in front of the falls. The mist here is so strong it feels like it's raining. We were absolutely soaked, kept the cameras dry though. We walked around the lower old city for the rest of the evening, taking pictures, watching a cruise ship pull out into the river, and looking in shops. The drive home seemed very quick and we were back in Montreal by 9:00. There we met up with Duncan, Dieta, Chris, and his friends Megan and Tammy, at St. Sulpice. It was much better than the first time I was there in January. The courtyard is opened up and hundreds of people sit back there around tables and umbrellas, talking and drinking. Such a great place. This time Eric amazed us with his beer drinking abilities, or at least for a little bit. After a fast and eventful drive home I wasn't so amazed anymore.

Monday (I love long weekends) it was raining, finally. We were beginning to lose faith in the weathermen because the first two days were absolutely beautiful and blue. So we looked for some indoor stuff to do. I dropped Duncan and Dieta off downtown and picked up Chris and Megan. At the Olympic Stadium Megan and I took a tour of the baseball field and other venues set up for the '76 Olympics while Eric and Chris walked through the Biodome. After we drove back downtown and went to the Eaton's Center while we were waiting for Duncan and Dieta (I've been there every time I've gone to Montreal). We left at 6:00 for home and made record time, getting there just after 8:00 (usually it's a 3 hour trip but the holiday traffic moves really fast). Great weekend.

Yesterday was a great day at work but last night was the best. CALGARY TOOK GAME ONE! They really needed that. I don't know if the Flames could recover from losing the first game because they'd probably lose the second game too. I hope they can actually win at home this time. Okay, it's time to start my work again today. Hope you all had a great long weekend. Leave me some comments, I want to hear about them. Especially you Terry, fill me in on the details!
