Rig 5E...
Still on the rig. It's been two weeks today and I'd have to say I'm ready to go home. There have been a few setbacks in the last 48 hours that have pushed my departure time to at least noon tomorrow. I was hoping to be on my way to Edmonton now but what can you do. I told my boss I'd give the well some positive vibes...he said "how about try some engineering"...touche.
The thing is at this point in the well there isn't much we can do. We're following the program and there's just some things we can't control. Guys in the field with 30 years experience are kind of baffled by what's been happening so I'm not so discouraged that I don't know. Actually, I think this has been a very good experience. If it had been a perfectly smooth well, what can I say when the next one goes wrong..."Um, I don't know? I've never seen it before." Already there's 5 or 6 common (and a few uncommon) problems that I've now experienced and can help find a solution to in the future. Sure it's messed up my weekend plans pretty good, but I can deal with that for now. I'm young, new to the business, it's time to...well...put in my time.
I am going to miss the food. It's just like being at grandma's house except for some reason I have even less will power. I've been doing push ups like crazy the last couple days in a desparate attempt to keep some of my fitness. Next week, gym every day! So, to some of you, see you Saturday night...maybe...hopefully...(sigh).

i love how you took a picture of a bunch of fruit as the picture for the food you've been eating, when really you've been gorging yourself on desserts (a-plenty), lots of meat, and as much fatty foods as they are making.
you might be able to fool the rest of the people who read this, but i've lived in camp Mike, there's no fooling me!
That plate of fruit is what I had for breakfast every morning. I'll admit, lunch and supper were very different. Highlights were the make-your-own-burgers and Chinese food.
Four hockey games and biking at the gym should start those pounds coming back off this week.
Dad and I are checking out the trees your fruit came from. They are looking nice and healthy. Oops...have to go... the pool boy (Dad) says the pool is clean and ready to be used. hasta luego!
